Riffers (UK) are pleased to offer for sale this 1971 Marshall JMP 1959T Super Tremolo head. This gorgeous sounding amp has been fully restored and is in near-mint condition. It has recently been re-housed in a new case from Zilla Cabs, period-correct for this model.

The transformers, circuit board, and components are original, as is the chassis. It retains the original Bulgin mains connector, and the Bulgin power cable is included. This is a true hand-wired Marshall on a turret board, a feature phased out in favor of printed circuit boards in mid-1973. Photos of the insides are available upon request.

A new set of Marshall EL34 tubes have been installed. It has been fully recapped, with the five 50/50 radial cans, bias supply capacitors, and tremolo circuit caps replaced. The original germanium transistor has been retained, allowing the tremolo to function with a modern foot switch. The amp was further serviced by RetroAmps on 20/06/24. Some of the original parts (pots, resistors, caps) have been retained and are included in the sale for posterity.

This amplifier is unique due to the absence of a stamped serial number. The Super Tremolo model didn't gain much popularity, leading to limited production runs where serial numbers were only added upon order. Rose Morris, the distributor, likely received these amps without their serial numbers stamped.

It's well known that a Marshall JMP 1959T 100 Watt Super Tremolo, modified by Tim Caswell and referred to as S.I.R. Stock #39, gave Slash his iconic tone on "Sweet Child O’ Mine”.
