The article describes Alex's experience with repairing and upgrading the power supply for this Cheetah MS6 synth module. Alex received the MS6 synth module from a customer after it had malfunctioned, causing a power outage in the customer's house. Upon inspection, it was evident that the synth had sustained fluid damage and had previously undergone repairs. As you will read, the original power supply of the MS6 is inadequate and prone to failure. To address these issues, Alex decided to design and build an external power supply housed in a steel enclosure, which would provide stable power to the MS6. The process involved reverse engineering the original power supply, designing the external enclosure, selecting suitable components, and extensive testing. Additionally, Alex implemented a "Live Forever" battery modification to replace the original Ni-MH battery with a lithium battery, preventing potential leaks and damage to the synth's circuitry. After completing the modifications and repairs, Alex tested the MS6 and confirmed that it was functioning properly, with all voices operational. Thanks to Alex's expertise in repairing and upgrading Cheetah MS6s, and addressing known issues with the synth's power supply, this example has been given a new lease of life and is ready to put to use.- Custom made 230V power supply manufactured by Plasma Music Limited (see Details from the Service for more information)
